Founded in 1869, Lake View Cemetery sits on 285 acres of land and was modeled after the great garden cemeteries of Victorian England and France. Dedicated in 1901, Wade Memorial Chapel was built in honor of Jeptha Wade, founder of The Western Union Telegraph Company, by his grandson. The exterior was designed by W. Dominick Benes and Benjamin S. Hubbell. The Wade Chapel The interior was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
The awe-inspiring window "The Flight of Souls" is the focal point in the Chapel's interior. The window is done in the Favrile technique developed by Tiffany, giving the glass an opalescence and iridescent quality by exposing it to chemicals and fumes of molten metals during the glass-blowing process.

The mosaic on the chapel's west wall symbolizes the prophecy and law of the Old Testament.

The mosaic on the east wall symbolizes the fulfillment of the law of the Prophets through the birth of Christianity.

Along with these two stops you will also visit the resting places of John D. Rockefeller organized the Standard Oil Company, Law enforcement agent, Eliot Ness is probably most famous for helping to bring down gangster Al Capone, in Chicago, the Lakeview Damn, built in 1978 by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District at a cost of $7 million. The dam can hold back 80 million gallons of water, and more!

Now to what I consider the best, or sweetest part of this Ride & Dine! Located not far from Lakeview Cemetery in the heart of Cleveland's "Little Italy" is the top bakery the area. Corbor's entrance sign.  Corbo’s Bakery. This 3rd generation bakery was established by John Corbo back in 1958. Today it is run by Joe and is rated a 5 star bakery! Their motto is "Leave the gun, and take the Cannoli".

If the Godfather had a certain bakery in mind when he gave this advice, he must have been referring to Corbo’s Bakery. Corbo's store front in Cleveland's famous Little Italy.  Corbo’s is a small family-owned establishment that has won the hearts of many foodies in its home city. Reminiscent of stepping into any old-country grandmother’s dream kitchen, the pastries are displayed with a pride that only hints at their extraordinary taste. Corbo’s Bakery is a vital addition to the Little Italy area and a must visit attraction for the city of Cleveland. The pastries, Bakery! bread, and other desserts are all hand made fresh by skilled Desserts! bakers. Although there are many different kinds of foods from this bakery, any first-timer should try one thing- their Fresh baked "Cannoli" shells ready for filling! delicious cannolis. It is apparent that not only the finest ingredients, but a tangible love of baking, goes into everything Corbo’s makes.

For those who have never experienced cassata cake, it is definitely worth trying. A white cake filled with creamy vanilla pudding, and strawberries, topped with their homemade whipped cream, it is one of the best cakes you will ever taste. Corbo’s cassata cakes are a popular choice for Cleveland weddings, Small wedding cake. celebrations, and business functions, and has been hailed by many as "the best Cassata Cake in the Midwest"…..and the closest one can get to an Italian grandmother’s cooking. Once your sweet tooth has been more than amply satisfied, we will transport you back to your starting point to complete this spectacular Ride & Dine package.

This all inclusive package is only $45.00/person, and includes an $8.00 voucher for your choice of dessert and beverage.  It is available Tuesday’s through Sunday’s 9:00 am to 4:00 pm from May 1st to October 31st.
